# Discord setup

## Add Niyra to Discord

### Option 1: DM only (just you)

1. **Dashboard → Channels → Discord → Connect.**
2. Click "Authorize for DM" — approve in Discord.
3. Open a DM with @niyra. First message links your account.

### Option 2: Add to your server

1. **Dashboard → Channels → Discord → Add to server.**
2. Pick a server you have admin / manage-channels permissions for.
3. Approve scopes: Read Messages, Send Messages, Manage Webhooks.
4. Niyra appears in your server.

## How she behaves in servers

- **Only replies when @mentioned** — won't read or respond to other messages.
- **Slash commands available**: `/ask`, `/brief`, `/remind`, `/help`.
- **Doesn't snoop** — channel history isn't logged by Niyra.
- **Per-user accounts** — when someone else mentions her, she uses their account's memory (or refuses if they haven't signed up).

## Voice channels (alpha)

Niyra can join a voice channel and:
- Listen + transcribe in real-time
- Summarize on demand
- Take notes / action items

Currently alpha — email hi@niyra.ai for access.

## Bot permissions explained

- **Read Messages** — Required to see @mentions
- **Send Messages** — Required to reply
- **Manage Webhooks** — Required for richer formatting (embeds)

She does NOT request: admin, ban, kick, manage roles. If she did, you should be suspicious.

## Removing her

Server Settings → Integrations → Niyra → Disconnect. She leaves immediately.

## Troubleshooting

- **Slash commands missing** — Wait ~5 min after adding, then check that her role can post in your channel.
- **No reply to @mention** — Confirm the bot's role can read + send in the channel. Check Settings → Channels → Discord shows your server connected.
